Material & care
What 925 means, what a finish is, and how to keep each piece looking its best.
Sterling, in short.
Silver is soft on its own. Mixed with a small amount of other metal, it becomes strong enough to wear every day.
- 92.5%
- pure silver
- 7.5%
- other metal, usually copper, for strength
- 925
- the stamp that marks the standard
Three finishes
- Silver
- Polished 925 sterling silver, as it is. See silver pieces
- Gold finish
- A gold finish over 925 sterling silver. See gold-finish pieces
- Rose-gold finish
- A rose-gold finish over 925 sterling silver. See rose-gold pieces
Every piece is shown in its own finish, so what you see is the colour you receive.
A note on tarnish, honestly
Sterling silver reacts with air and moisture, so it can darken over time. That is natural, not a fault. Wearing a piece often and wiping it after use keeps it bright. A finish is a thin layer over the silver, and gentle care helps it keep its colour for longer.
Care, slowly
- Keep it dry, in a soft pouch.
- Wipe it gently with a soft cloth after wearing.
- Put it on last, after perfume and lotion.
- Take it off for swimming, bathing and the gym.
- Wear it often. Silver likes being worn.
